“I open Discord or YouTube during a compile and lose the thread of the problem.”

Developers often lose focus during builds, tests, and short waits, even when they stay focused while writing code.

A focus app for developers on Windows

Create a Work mode that includes Discord, launchers, games, and video or social domains while leaving your editor, terminal, documentation, and local services available. During the session, REACH checks selected Windows processes about every 1.5 seconds and terminates them. It also blocks full domains in Chrome. This keeps the limits in place during a slow build or test.

REACH closes the processes you selected during builds and tests. Join the waitlist and we will email you when the beta is available.

REACH is in free public beta. Join the waitlist and we will let you know when you can try it. No card, no ads.

The timeline records a distracting app closed during a compile wait.

Keep limits active while you wait

Context switching often starts after a build begins or while tests run. That short wait is still part of the work.

A dedicated mode keeps your editor, terminal, documentation, and local tools available while excluding the processes and domains you tend to open during a wait.

Why a timer breaks technical flow

A timer cannot stop you from opening a chat client by reflex. A browser extension covers websites, but it cannot close Discord, a launcher, or an installed game.

A block that covers the whole browser can also remove documentation when you only meant to exclude one site. REACH works by domain and cannot distinguish between paths on the same domain.

How REACH handles a coding session

REACH terminates processes in the active mode and can block Chrome domains through a local bridge. Packs and software detection speed up preparation, while the final list remains under your control.

Schedules reserve repeatable blocks, and statistics record your sessions. With an account, state and lists sync. Without one, everything works locally with JSON stored on disk.

When to choose another developer app

Choose another app if you need to allow one path on a blocked domain, use Firefox or Edge, or protect settings from an administrator. REACH is not a security tool for managed workstations.

REACH may suit Windows developers who know which apps pull them away and want the same limits to stay active during builds and tests.

What this answer does not cover

  • Website blocking covers full domains only in Chrome.
  • Closing REACH stops process blocking.
  • There is no anti-bypass for administrator users.

Questions on this page

Can REACH leave my editor and terminal open?

Yes. It terminates only processes added to the active mode, so development tools can remain outside the list.

Can I block YouTube while keeping web documentation?

Yes, when they use different domains. REACH blocks full domains and cannot allow one path inside a blocked domain.

Does REACH need an account to work?

No. It works locally with JSON stored on disk. An account is required for cross-device sync.
